Artist's Comments

Hey all, this is an uptodate SS of my current setup; ive been playing with Gnome2/RH8, it really is quite nice, and im digging the desktop (final - its taken 3 years) i still love bash, but nautilus has improved markedly (especaily when you enable [using gconf-editor] apps-> nautilus->preferences->desktop_is_home_dir (check it)).

Bad things about gnome2: it has a registry (i thought i had left it behind when i left windows) - its no where near as bulky, so im diggin it a bit (it is nice to have a standard way to configure things), but i prefer text files (lets hope it still stores them as plain txt). Metacity isnt quite sawfish. i really got to know and love SF, its the small things that i miss (plus, ive got to learn to theme it, looks tidy though) it does feel intergrated though.

i also discopvered that while my Viewsonic E-70 (which i cant get about 60 hz in any decent res) can handle 1400x1050 in true colour with no more difficulty than 1280x1024 (infact i think the Horiz rate is higher :P (Lick) )

And it looks kidna like a Mac. just wish it had a doc, but i'll get over it.

the awesome wall is by :userliquisoft: - get it here: [link]

got the aqua nautilus theme from [link] (and a sweet cyan gnomefoot login screen and a purdy splash screen (3 actualy) to replace the yucky RH one. you'll also want to munt around with the default icons for app launchers, theyre all foul KDEish ones, but the standard ones are all in /usr/share/pixmaps (thankfully) - the bluecurve wilbur is especaily bad.

i think thats enough from me.

mmm... very nice. Love the way you've got it looking, and as to the high res.. =P (Razz)

(I'm running double-head at work TM ;) (Wink) )

If X can tidy up the 3D support and stuff it's not gonna be way off the pace of aqua/quartz...

the blue icons doesn`t match the green background (which is very nice), you may also add a drop shadow below the upper panel using the gimp (of course)

generally aqua sucks ;) (Wink)
